This 5 hour program takes you along on a pair of Naughty and Nice themed shoots that present a wide range of creative and technical challenges. Matt shows you how to get dramatic results by working with and modifying the available light, as well as creating dramatic shadow patterns.

The lessons are brought to life with the one and only Steph Pham. A talented, experienced and thoughtful model, you will learn as much from her posing and modelling advice as from Matt's lighting and photography instruction.

First we shoot a NAUGHTY Themed series of images in a real BDSM dungeon. We work with props and accessories to evoke a wild and sexy atmosphere.

Next we rented a Parisian Loft themed space, to create a series of NICE Themed images. Here we shoot in a ballet tutu, in flowing lingerie as well as soft and sensual nudes.

  • Weigh up options

    Creating 2 sets of images that work as an overall collection requires planning and weighing up options to find the right balance.

    Considering practical realities like the location, time constraints and outfit options, you are left with countless potential shots to create. You will join us in real time as we review options, develop shot lists and execute it.

  • Control the light

    A photographers job is to evaluate the light and figure out how to get from 'what we have' to 'what I want'.

    The two studios we rented offered dramatically different available light. The Bondage studio had no natural light, but still had white walls that made controlling light spill a challenge.

    The Parisian loft had a lot of sunlight, but it was changing rapidly. We used small LEDs and also flash to add to the light.

  • Edit Creatively

    The final step to creating a beautiful photograph is editing. In this series Matt edits images from each shoot in real time, showing you the complete process to finalise the image.

    Even if you like to get it right in camera, some editing is usually required. Lightroom now has so much power to mask and refine shots, I show you how to quickly boost your out of camera images.
