1920s Hollywood Glamour
This 4.5 hour program brings you along on a real world glamour portrait shoot at a 1920s Mansion in Hollywood. I show you how to create elegant and sensual nudes that you can recreate.
In the Hollywood Hills
Universal Photography Principles
This 1920s mansion in the Hollywood Hills was originally built by Charlie Chaplin and Mary Astor. Spanning 5 floors, the house has beautiful spiral staircases, a pool and pool house and huge gardens. Endless potential locations for creating elegant nude portraits.
In this 4.5 hour course you will join Matt, model Meagan & videographer Jonathan behind the scenes for the complete shooting and editing process.
The primary goal on this shoot was to create a complete series of sensual images that reflect the elegance of 1920s Hollywood.
The setting for this shoot is an epic mansion, and whilst this is useful for creating awe-inspiring images, the lessons Matt presents are applicable to any shooting location.
You will learn how to:
- Identify locations and execute location portraits quickly
- Direct poses for maximum impact
- Create elegant & sensual magazine quality portraits
- Work with the available lighting conditions to craft dramatic images
- How and when to add flash or LED light
- Edit to a theme and create a cohesive series of images.
This course is all about location portraiture - making the most of what is available and crafting images that fit your vision for the shoot.
We are fortunate to be shooting in a spectacular location, but the challenges we face, and the lessons Matt teaches are applicable to all forms of photography and all locations.
We shoot:
- Outdoors in hard sun, shade and dappled light
- Indoors in low light, backlight and diffused light
- Implied, sensual and full nude as well as in a variety lingerie and ballet tutus
- Using a minimal kit - mostly a single camera and lens, sometimes with off camera flash or LED
- Fast! Given the variety of locations we wanted, we focus on finding the best scene and outfit, working with the available light and getting the shot quickly.
The package includes a dozen raw image files, a brand new set of editing presets and a PDF list of all equipment and outfits used.
What photographers said about Matt's previous courses
What makes Matt stand apart from others is the clear way in which he communicates the essence of the poses, the process, the equipment to use, and the art of the resulting photographs.
Max, San Francisco.
The Hotel Photoshoot was awesome! The “fly on the wall” format was very educational to see how you interacted with the model. I also appreciated how interactive you are with the model-she had some great input on the creative aspects of the shoot. This is a great course for photographers, as well as models who want to improve their posing.
Jon, Toronto.
This is a very well set out course. I like the rapport between you and the model as it shows how a shoot can be relaxed and professional. The different options shown with regard to focal length and aperture was also very helpful. Good job.
Saalik, Western Australia
Matt is an excellent teacher, starting the lessons from the basics and building to advanced.
Cliff, Philadelphia.
Your video series was amazing and really help me understand how to respect and make the model feel comfortable. I now also feel more confident with lighting.
